Spring Salmon Run
Saturday May 10, 2008
A 10k Trail Run and Walk
to benefit Environmental Education at the Woolman Semester
The race starts near the end of the South Yuba River canyon. The course follows Jones Bar road on its 2-mile descent to the banks of the Wild and Scenic South Yuba River. From the river, runners ascend a steep section of trail to the Independence Trail. The course then loops back toward Jones Bar Road, meeting the road again about halfway to the top. The last mile-and-a-half ascends the river canyon and finishes where it started. Participants will enjoy incredible views, wildflowers galore and challenging, diverse terrain.
Plan to stick around after the race for the first annual Watershed Festival at Sierra Friends Center. We'll feature information and workshops with local watershed advocacy groups such as South Yuba River Citizens League, Yuba Watershed Institute and Sequoya Challenge.
With your registration fee, you will receive entry into the Salmon Run, event goodies, and a delicious vegetarian lunch served at Sierra Friends Center after the race.
An awards ceremony for the runners will take place at 11 a.m. Gold Country Grand Prix points will be reported.
