Admissions

As you have been browsing through the various pictures on our web site, I hope you can imagine saying, “This place feels like home” as one of our recent students said after spending his first night in his cabin here in the Sierra foothills.

The Woolman Semester is for you if...

  • You are a student who enjoys engaging dialogue about topics that are relevant to your life with your teachers and classmates
  • You like to bring those conversations to meals with other members of the community, to get yet another viewpoint to really deepen your understanding
  • You long to delve into topics that intrigue you about world issues, peace studies and sustainability
  • You want to look inside yourself and figure out what you value and then make life choices that you feel are aligned with those values

Our program is for high school juniors, seniors and immediate post-graduates.  Credit is awarded for core-curriculum courses and any electives, such as math or foreign language, a student chooses to take.  A transcript of awarded credits is issued at the end of the semester to facilitate the transition back to the student’s home educational institution.

The Woolman Semester may be just the launch pad you need to prepare for college and a life of activism. You will have the opportunity to find out what motivates you and how to accomplish more than you ever thought you could. The kind of learning that happens here is the kind of learning you will draw on for the rest of your life. So, what are you waiting for? Download the application form and let’s get started...
